Draymond Green Goes Ballistic During Christmas Day Matchup With Cleveland Cavaliers

Melba UnderwoodDec 26, 2016

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors appear to be on a collision course.

It was almost a triumphant ending for Steph Curry, who shot just 4-11 from the field but cashed a fast-break three-pointer with 1:14 left to put the Warriors up 108-105. In their previous game, the Cavs destroyed the Brooklyn Nets, 119-99, even with a relaxed fourth quarter in which they allowed 42 points to the opposition. Neither was Kyrie Irving, who hit a go-ahead jumper with 3.4 seconds left. The Warriors responded with a Draymond Green dunk, a Klay Thompson blocked shot on Irving that bounced off the backboard and a subsequent Steph Curry three in transition.

Yup, that's right. On their way to the court, the Warriors had to walk past a very big photo of LeBron James' critical block on Andre Iguodala in Game 7 that helped seal Cleveland's victory.

Now, the Warriors are looking for revenge. He had a poster dunk on Kevin Love in the first half and finished with 36 points on 11/23 shooting.

Yes, Kerr acknowledged prior to tipoff of the headliner among the league's Yuletide slate of five games, it is Christmas. Irving, in the simulation, was the other top Cavalier with 28 points. Durant stumbled. The ref didn't blow his whistle. Specifically, primary bench wings Richard Jefferson and Iman Shumpert combined to shoot 3-of-20 from the field, including 1-of-10 from three.

With both teams poised to meet in the finals for the third straight year, the Warriors are hoping the Cavs' curated exhibit will soon become obsolete. The seven-time All-Star has leapfrogged Stephen Curry as the Dubs' primary scorer, averaging 25.9 points per game to go along with 8.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists. And ignore the MVP-caliber performance from Kevin Durant. Durant signed a 2 year, $54.2M contract with the Warriors that turned the National Basketball Association upside down as the Warriors won a league-record 73 games last season without him.
