The galaxy is glowing a little less brightly for New Zealand's Star Wars community after news of Carrie Fisher's death. Fisher was an outspoken advocate for people struggling with mental illness, and talked publicly about having bipolar disorder, helping to destigmatize the illness. She was 60 years old.

George Lucas, who by casting Fisher in Star Wars made her a star, said in a statement to E! Her biggest novel was the semi-autobiographical Postcards from the Edge, based on her experiences with Reynolds. "She was obviously busy but she wanted to spend some time talking with fans". She also wrote the screenplay for the 1990 film adaptation.

She was promoting her eighth book, a collection titled "The Princess Diarist", in which she revealed her affair with co-star Harrison Ford during the filming of the original "Star Wars".

"Carrie Fisher was smart, funny, talented, surprising and always a hell of a fun time to be around".

"When I went in she was sitting on a chair - she was the tiniest person you've ever seen in your life".
