Murdered child-model's brother sues for $750m over TV 'slurs'

Miranda GreerJan 01, 2017

So far, CBS has declined to comment.

Burke Ramsey, the brother of murdered Colorado child pageant queen JonBenet Ramsey, has filed a $750 million defamation lawsuit against CBS for implicating him in the death of his sister.

In October, Burke Ramsey filed a separate $150M suit against Dr. Werner Spitz, who appeared on The Case Of giving an interview to CBS Detroit in which he said of Burke's involvement in the killing, "If you really, really use your free time to think about this case, you can not come to a different conclusion".

At the conclusion of the CBS series, a panel of experts concludes that Burke Ramsey, who was nine years old at the time, killed his sister by striking her with a flashlight.

"JonBenet Ramsey" a two-part documentary series.

Burke Ramsey's lawsuit argues that producers overlooked a significant range evidence that points to his innocence.

In 2008, Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy officially cleared JonBenet's family, including Burke, from the murder case.

Ramsey, brother of slain child star JonBenet Ramsey, told Dr. Phil that he'd hidden from the media in the decades since his sister's death. Numerous investigations, by armchair sleuths and law enforcement orgs, over the years have sought to crack the case.

The lawsuit says that as a result of CBS' defamatory statements against Burke, he has suffered damage and harm including economic damages, damage to his reputation, and mental anguish.

In September, Burke Ramsey broke a silence of 20 years' length.

The suit was filed by Atlanta-based attorney Lin Wood, who has long represented the Ramsey family in criminal and civil claims related to JonBenet's murder.

Back in October, Ramsey filed a separate, $150 million lawsuit against Spitz over a 2016 radio interview " in which he explicitly and falsely stated that Burke Ramsey killed his sister, JonBenet Ramsey".
