Officials say they have apprehended an escaped inmate who broke out of a detention center and was on the run for several days, including an attempted bank robbery earlier today.

Morales may have tried to rob a second bank in Somerville. The teller receiving the note hit an alarm, notifying security and police, and the would-be robber fled.

An emergency meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening at the Wyatt Detention Center, the Central Falls prison where Morales escaped from on New Years Eve.

"There are definitely some similarities in appearance of attempted bank robber and Morales' appearance but we have not made a definitive ID", Procopio said.

Morales has ties to Cambridge, but Procopio emphasized that authorities have not confirmed the connection.

Morales, 35, was being held on charges that he stole 16 guns from a U.S. Army Reserve Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Authorities have said he is risky and may be armed.

Fugitive James Morales, who escaped from a Rhode Island detention facility over the weekend, has been captured in Somerville, Massachusetts State Police said. He was wearing a black jacket with a gray sweatshirt and black knit cap.

Police in Cambridge, Mass., are searching for a suspect who allegedly robbed a bank. He has a tattoo on his left hand with a crown and the name "Sherrelle", a tattoo on his right hand saying "King" and another on his neck of an eagle. The crime was committed while he was out on bail on child rape charges in MA, reports CBS Boston.

Authorities said he stole a auto from Attleboro and drove to Framingham, where an ex-girlfriend lives.

Morales also worked for the Cambridge Department of Public Works in 2013, records show.
