Arizona's Allonzo Trier suspended for failed PED test

Darin HammondJan 21, 2017

Rob Dauster of College Basketball Talk confirmed the report through sources. According to a source, the NCAA performed a random drug test on Trier in September, and the school was informed in early October that he had failed it.? He won an appeal of the decision, but the NCAA won't allow him to play until the drug is clear from his system. As of a test from two weeks ago, there were still trace amounts of the drug in his system, according to the report.

"I don't have control of the situation", Miller said. "And it's just one of those situations that I wish was different but it's not". "I really have no feel on what's going to happen". Others have stepped up in his absence though, and Arizona is 16-2 and 5-0 in the Pac-12 heading into road games this week at USC and UCLA.

They have wins over Michigan State, Missouri and Texas A&M to go along with those conference victories, and single-digit losses to Butler and Gonzaga won't hurt their resume much come Selection Sunday.

The sophomore guard averaged 14.8 points per game as a freshman and was expected to pace the Wildcats as a scorer, but has not appeared in a game due to the suspension. He would give Arizona more offensive firepower and provide additional depth for a team that Goodman said has been "decimated by injuries". He figured to play a major offensive role for the program this season, especially after Ray Smith tore his ACL.

Arizona guard Allonzo Trier's suspension is the result of a failed PED test, solving a mystery dating back months.
