Arsene Wenger adamant he did not push fourth official Anthony Taylor

The issue at hand arose due to Burnley being awarded a penalty in injury time against 10-man Arsenal protecting a slender 1-0 lead. "I apologise for that", Wenger said.

"I regret everything. I should have shut up, gone in and gone home".

Arsenal, reduced to 10 men following the 65th-minute sending off of Granit Xhaka, saw Andre Gray equalise from the spot kick only to be awarded a penalty of their own that Alexis Sanchez converted for a 98th-minute victor.

'When you're pushing someone that's getting physical and I think you might find he'll be in trouble for that'.

"We played in their half for most of the game and then you are a man down - it becomes hard", he told Sky Sports.

He said: "On television it looked like a penalty".

The victory takes the Gunners to second place on the EPL table, taking full advantage of Liverpool's home loss to Swansea on Saturday.

With Arsenal struggling to break down a resolute Burnley side, Shkodran Mustafi managed to steer his header into the far corner and it appeared the hosts would cruise toward an easy three points.

Referee Jon Moss had previously sent Granit Xhaka off with a straight red card for reckless two-footed challenge in the 65th minute, and gave Burnley a penalty when Francis Coquelin tripped Ashley Barnes.

This time it was Sean Dyche who was despairing, as Ben Mee's high foot caught Laurent Koscielny in the face in the final seconds of a prolonged stoppage time.

"I don't know if it was a sending off but if it was one we can only look at ourselves and make sure it doesn't happen again", the Gunners boss said. We couldn't get the second goal, we played with 10 men and they played well as well.

"It's a tough day for us in the end", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

It is the second time Xhaka has been sent off in his Arsenal career - and the SIXTH time across the last two seasons - and Wenger admits he can not complain about the decision.

Having been sent to the stands, he would already have been facing a touchline ban before tangling with Taylor.

"We kept going and we are a relentless team who fights for every single thing".
