LeBron James: 'Charles Oakley for President'

Doyle BarkerFeb 11, 2017

Knicks legend Charles Oakley was banned indefinitely from Madison Square Garden on Friday, two days after Oakley scuffled with security personnel during a game and was arrested.

According to ESPN Radio host Michael Kay, Oakley will be banned from Madison Square Garden for life-even if he purchases a ticket to enter.

"While Oakley, the bruising 6'8" enforcer for NY between 1988 and 1998, was arrested for punching three security guards at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, the court of public opinion, if not the law, is standing by Oakley.

Paul took particular exception to the Knicks' original statement, released Wednesday, that said they hoped Oakley "gets some help soon".

Security was called to Oakley's seat after he was shouting at Dolan, sitting not far ahead in his usual seat in the first row behind the baseline.

"Yes I understand that he was a big star and a Knick, etc., but that doesn't excuse people from that kind of behavior", Dolan said. "I asked, 'Why?' and they said, 'You have to leave because someone ordered you to leave.' And I'm like, 'I've been here four and a half minutes'". "I don't know what the f- they're looking at, but they're getting on my f-ing nerves".

Oakley, 53, is a former Knicks player.

While Dolan and Oakley haven't been buds for some time, things reached a breaking point Wednesday when the Cleveland native was kicked out of the arena by the owner's Gestapo.

"I want to say I'm sorry to all the fans at the Garden", Oakley said. "I'm not walking into places and start hollering out James Dolan, James Dolan".

"That can't be something he meant to have happen", Dolan said of the incident.

This petty war between Charles Oakley and the New York Knicks isn't going to end well for the Knicks.

Oakley told Castiglione he wasn't drinking in the Garden and was never told he wasn't welcome in the arena. I didn't know what it was about or anything.
