Harrison Ford Involved In Passenger Plane Incident at OC Airport

Darin HammondFeb 15, 2017

The passenger jet was waiting for Ford's plane to land on the runway in front of them, but instead it flew over them and landed on the taxiway.

Harrison, an experienced pilot, mistakenly aimed for the taxiway instead of landing on the runway at John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

Ford reportedly was captured on air traffic recordings saying, "Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?"

The FAA told The News that the pilot of the single-engine plane had correctly read back instructions from air traffic controllers before the mishap. However, for now, it has been confirmed that Ford is safe, and unharmed, which is definitely good news. Luckily, he passed over the plane, and the Boeing 737 departed a few minutes later.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.

The FAA's investigation has yet to conclude, so the outcome of Ford's incident is still unknown. However, Ford actually landed on a taxiway, flying over a passenger plane for an unknown amount of time. In 2015, he suffered a broken pelvis, ankle, and sustained minor head injuries after he was forced to crash land his vintage airplane on a golf course in Santa Monica.

He also downed a helicopter in 1999 during a training session.

One year later, Ford's six-seater Beechcraft Bonanza scraped the runway during an emergency landing at Lincoln Municipal Airport in Nebraska. John Wayne Airport officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
