Gunners fans rage as striker will miss Sutton showdown

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is anxious that the artificial pitch at Sutton United's home ground could cause problems for his players when they visit the fifth-tier side in the fifth round of FA Cup on Monday.

We can be sure that the players will be highly motivated, and will do everything they can to cause an even bigger upset, than fellow fifth-tier club Lincoln City, who progressed to the next round after beating Burnley at Turf Moor. A player when I managed for the first time at 33 or 34 said that after our first defeat I threw up.

Bedsente Gomis tried to work an opening inside the Arsenal area early in the second half as he twisted and turned, but couldn't get the shot away and the Gunners cleared the danger.

Arsenal will now play Lincoln City in the quarter finals of the FA Cup at the Emirates on March 11. No such issues for Arsenal this weekend on Sutton's controversial 3G pitch and no excuses from Leeds United who were humbled on the surface in the last round. "Try telling them that at Sutton, which for a few surreal days is discovering what happens when a tiny National League club becomes the temporary centre of the footballing universe", says Jonathan Liew of the Daily Telegraph.

Arsene Wenger: "Everyone focuses on the next game, to take care of the consequences a disappointing result can have on everybody's spirit and to make sure we bounce back and focus on the next game".

Favourites tag weighed heavily on Burnley in Lincoln loss, says Dyche

It was a poor start as Sutton started well and were containing us with the Arsenal players taking their time getting used to the home sides artificial pitch.

Sutton were almost rewarded for their endeavour when the lively man-of-the-match Roarie Deacon hit the crossbar with a stunning strike, but they bow out with their heads held high after a great run in the competition. We will face an unusual pitch and we will have to deal with it.

"My diet has got me to where I am today!" I am not the best eater.

Lights illuminate the pitch ahead of the English FA Cup fifth round soccer match between Arsenal and Sutton United at Gander Green Lane stadium in London, Monday, Feb. 20, 2017.

"We need to look at how things go tonight before we even think about the game against Lincoln".
