Omar's comin': Michael Kenneth Williams joins Han Solo film

Katie RamirezMar 07, 2017

Production on the currently-untitled Han Solo movie is already underway, but we won't see it in theaters until May 25, 2018. The latest spin-off will be set before the Star Wars film, A New Hope. Instead of Billy Dee Williams, Donald Glover will play Lando.

Williams is now in negotiations to star in Disney and Lucasfilms' upcoming Han Solo movie.

You come at Han Solo, you better not miss.

Williams may be getting a lightsaber and blasting to a galaxy far, far away.

The untitled "Han Solo" movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as the infamous smuggler, alongside Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Michael K Williams. Later he went on to gain popularity for playing Albert "Chalky" White on another HBO series Boardwalk Empire.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will direct, based on a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan.

The movie will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, Simon Emanuel, and co-produced by Kiri Hart, Susan Towner, and Will Allegra. If you don't remember Williams from The Wire (go watch the show) you might recognize him from Ubisoft's recent debut into filmmaking, Assassin's Creed with Michael Fassbender.

While Donald Glover's casting as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo film was one of the illest things that we absolutely can't wait for, the cast they are assembling for this project has been pretty damn wonderful as well.
