Bills will keep Tyrod Taylor after restructure

Doyle BarkerMar 09, 2017

As the 2017 National Football League free agency period approaches, the Buffalo Bills are quickly making decisions on their own roster, as they made three roster moves on Wednesday.

There was uncertainty about what might happen with Taylor, as the Bills had an option on the quarterback for the 2017 season. But even a cursory glance around at the available (and potentially available) QB options out there made it rather obvious that Taylor was the Bills' best option this off-season.

The Buffalo Bills are keeping their starting quarterback in town on a restructured deal, a source told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Wednesday.

Ideally, Taylor will continue to grow as a quarterback, the Bills defence will improve under McDermott and the team can end their postseason drought.

There had been speculation that the Bills would release Taylor, but they now appear to be committed to the six-year veteran.

Taylor has a 15-14 record in two seasons with Buffalo. Newly hired coach Sean McDermott also declined to discuss Taylor's future after he took over in January after Rex Ryan's dismissal.

Taylor threw for 3,023 yards and 17 touchdowns in 15 games a year ago for Buffalo.

Taylor was benched for the final game of last season despite being healthy enough to play, and it was apparent that the decision to sit him came from the front office. The Bills subsequently announced Taylor will be back on a restructured contract. Are you happy to see him back with the Bills?
