Tetsuya Nomura Talks Final Fantasy VII Remake Battle Changes

Melba UnderwoodMar 09, 2017

We can see this with Cloud taking cover behind a box, which allows him to escape the line of fire from opposing forces. On January 31, Square Enix celebrated Final Fantasy VII's twentieth anniversary, and rumours of a remake have existed since the early 2000s with the tech demo shown running on the PS3.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake is still far from being release, and Tetsuya Nomura and his team haven't shown much of the game in recent times. Nomura revealed that there will be more situational actions in the final game. The image may have been misinterpreted, however, Nomura has detailed the image was meant to show that there are certain areas on the map where Cloud can interact seamlessly and that taking cover is entirely optional. As of the moment, Tetsuya Nomura weighs in on the reaction of fans towards the previously released screenshots of the remake and clarifies some aspects of the game in a magazine interview.

This comes as little surprise though as the newest instalment in the franchise, Final Fantasy XV, the battle system was significantly action based and also featured destructible environments.

Millions of people love the original Final Fantasy VII and changing how that plays seems like an incredibly risky and above all unwanted thing to do. He said that the idea that the remake of Final Fantasy VII would not fit on a single release was present even at the beginning.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to be somewhat different from the original game, as it will be a multi-part series.

In a screenshot released alongside the interview, we see Cloud and friends battling against the Guard Scorpion, the first boss in the game. "We still can't share more information about its multiple parts, but please look forward to future announcements", as posted by WCCFTech.com.
