Potential Jets Draft Target Sidney Jones Reportedly Injured at Washington Pro Day

One of the Washington Huskies' most coveted National Football League draft prospects left Saturday's Pro Day workout on an equipment cart. 2017 NFL Draft cornerback prospect Sidney Jones reportedly suffered an Achilles injury, according to Yahoo's Eric Edholm.

After brief conversations on the sideline, Jones hopped on the back of a cart and was taken out of the building.

While exceptional talents can still be drafted relatively high even if they are expected to miss their rookie season - like Jaylon Smith past year - this certainly will be costly for Jones.

In three seasons at Washington, Jones recorded 145 tackles, 21 passes defended, 8.5 tackles for a loss, eight interceptions, and six forced fumbles. "Felt like he could have been the first corner and still can be the first corner off the draft board".

The Huskies 6-foot, 186-pound corner was expected to be a first-round pick in a class stacked with talented cornerbacks, and NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah reports that he has received texts from scouts at Washington's pro day that it sounds like a significant lower leg injury.

In USA TODAY Sports' most recent mock draft, he was projected to be selected by the New Orleans Saints with the No. 11 overall pick.

Baker, who is projected to be a first-or second-round prospect, said he wanted to show teams how fluid and natural he was in his position drills. "I think I did a pretty good job of showcasing that I can get in and out of my breaks". If you make one good play in a game and get beat three times, that's not a good game.
