A revived Roger Federer beat fellow Swiss Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 7-5 in the BNP Paribas Open final on Sunday to earn a record-tying fifth Indian Wells title and distinction as the tournament's oldest victor.

In a much speculative performance fuego, legendary player Roger Federer again set the benchmark after claiming a record-equaling fifth ATP Indian Wells Masters title on Sunday.

Federer having been sidelined for nearly six months past year has made an incredible return to the game, winning his second title in the space of eight weeks.

Having won 90 career titles - including 18 Grand Slams - Federer has dominated the sport ever since his first Grand Slam triumph at Wimbledon in 2003.

In sublime form these days, Federer books Indian Wells title clash with fellow countryman Wawrinka Roger Federer's resurgence has already out-stripped his expectations, but the Swiss great says relishing the game is more important now than chasing a ranking.

Earlier in the week, Federer blasted his way into the last eight with a stunning display against long-time rival Rafael Nadal, the first time he had claimed three consecutive wins over the gritty Spaniard. At 35 years, he is the oldest Masters 1000 champion since a 34-year-old Andre Agassi won the Cincinnati title in 2004. "The change is dramatic, and it feels great", he added.

"No. From that side, I think it's more positive, Wawrinka said as quoted on ATP World Tour".

The Australian, ranked 16th in the world, had beaten second seed Novak Djokovic on Wednesday to set up a quarter-final against Federer but was unable to take to the court after a troubled night.

"I've lost some tough ones against you, but when you played the final in Australia, I was still your biggest fan". Federer is also 15-0 versus Wawrinka on hardcourts. I won the first one. 'So I will try and back it up there with a good tournament.

"This has been a fairytale week once again". I want to play more, keep winning, keep playing better, but doesn't guarantee any result. I wouldn't have dreamed that a few years ago and now it's the second we played.
