1 feared dead, multiple injuries in 4-alarm fire in Oakland

The fire was reported at about 6 a.m. and, according to Oakland Fire Department's Twitter account, it came in as a three-alarm working structure fire. Firefighter thought they saw a body on the third floor, but there has been no official confirmation of the death. They searched the building upon arriving and began rescue efforts.

Crews rescued seven people, Logan said.

The building on fire is reportedly an apartment building.

No other people were reported to be missing, Logan said.

Approximately 50 to 60 people lived in the building, Logan said, and the Red Cross is helping those who were displaced.

There is a large 4-alarm fire burning in West Oakland on the corner of Mead and San Pablo Avenue. We also spoke to residents who came down the fire escape.

He says he opened the door to smoke in the hallway and heard children hollering from the second floor.

Crews are reporting that the roof and floors are collapsing, forcing crews to withdraw from the building.

KTVU-TV reports Monday (http://bit.ly/2nXPIV7) that it is unclear if people are inside the three-story residential building. The warehouse housed an artists' collective.
