"But I think I showed great heart today, Tomas really started to step it up and it was a great match at the end".

Federer is back on court today in Miami against Tomas Berdych who he has dominated winning 17 of 23 meetings and their last six matches (14 straight sets).

Both Federer and Berdych held serve to set the stage for Fed to serve the match out and book his spot in the semis.

There was plenty of tension in the match-deciding tie-breaker, where Federer saved match point and then Berdych lost on a double-fault.

Australia's Nick Kyrgios, who is seeded 12th, meets Germany's Alexander Zverev in the fourth men's quarter-final later on Thursday. Now Wozniacki is in her third final of the year, looking for her first crown of 2017 and 26th overall.

"This is one of the few tournaments where I've never made a finals", Wozniacki said. The 35-year old Tennis God, and arguably the best player ever to play the game is on fire in big events and could continue with his winning ways at the ATP Miami. "It's always been a tournament where I wouldn't say I struggle, but I've just not had the results I wanted". He will play Italian Fabio Fognini Friday evening. She wasted three set points in the opening set, then was barely challenged the rest of the way.

The Swiss superstar was locked in during the early going, as he broke Berdych in his first service game.

Rafael Nadal has already qualified for the semi final. "Thanks for making it very special".

The part-time Miami resident rallied past second-seeded Karolina Pliskova 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 on Thursday, meaning the No. 12 seed will play in Saturday's championship match against either No. 10 Johanna Konta or No. 11 Venus Williams.

This will be the second consecutive time two double-digit seeds make the women's final at Key Biscayne, after No. 13 Victoria Azarenka beat No. 15 Svetlana Kuznetsova a year ago.
