Arsenal Supporters Trust survey shows 78 percent want Arsene Wenger to go

Arsenal face Manchester City in a blockbuster clash at the Emirates on Sunday.

The Gunners will be sweating over the fitness of talisman Alexis Sanchez, who faces a late fitness test ahead of the match following his exploits with Chile during the global break.

Despite the Frenchman not yet publicly confirming whether or not he will commit his future at Arsenal beyond this summer, Wenger acknowledges the fact that his side needs to be strengthened if they're to really compete with the elites. "I would prefer to take Arsenal after a lot of wins", he said.

"When you lose a lot of games it is a unsafe moment".

"Yes, I understand that (other interpretations), I have not a lot to add".

"Everybody knows them. Huge quality in the middle, quality in the sides with Alexis [Sanchez], go inside with ideal runs in behind with [Theo] Walcott, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain. We still have a good chance to finish in the top four and we are in the semi-final of the FA Cup".

"I travelled there with Barcelona and Bayern Munich and it was always so hard".

Wenger was critical of how his players had performed in their previous game - the 3-1 loss at West Bromwich Albion - acknowledging that "there was something missing".

The game at the Emirates looks set to be crucial in determining City's top-four hopes.

Apart from the odd howlers, Cech is also susceptible from long range shots and this has proved costly for Wenger's side in countless games, be it against smaller teams or a heavyweight.

Having had a two-week global break to fix things after a 3-1 loss at West Bromwich Albion last time out, Wenger desperately needs one of his big names to step up against City.

Yes, when that announcement is made, there will be some uncomfortable moments; (assuming the decision will be a new contract) there will be protests, but to string the Arsenal fans along and tease them and keep them in suspense over his future, is frankly staggering.

Guardiola, however, says those fans calling for his head will change their tune when Arsenal's form improves.

He also did an interview, in which he was quoted in Publimetro to have said that he wanted to be at a London club that has a 'winning mentality.'

"My mental approach was always to win and to go as far as possible playing football". "Whatever the bosses decide, I'm sure it will be the best for Arsenal".

The AST also found that 86 per cent of is almost 1,000 members believed the Arsenal board have handled Wenger's future in a manner that is "in the best interests of Arsenal".

"For the fans, and the journalists, it depends on the results - nothing else".
