Epps sorry for dancing with kangaroo on stage

Video of the incident showed Mr. Epps jerking the animal's leash upward several times before it appears to take a swipe at the comedian's face.

He later posted an apology note to his social media account, and said he would be donating to a kangaroo conservation charity.

TMZ reported today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is investigating.

Comedian Mike Epps has apologized for bringing a kangaroo onstage at one of his shows - a kick in the shins to Twitter users who have been slamming it as animal abuse.

A stunt involving a live kangaroo has forced comedian Mike Epps to apologize, but the incident may also get him in trouble with the law.

'I didn't think Mike Epps playing with that kangaroo last night was amusing at all. Theses guys are license zoo keepers!

Epps, who is known for roles in various projects including "The Hangover", invited zoo owner and exotic animal handler Javon Stacks on stage with a kangaroo.

Epps also used his wallet to apologize and revealed he would be making a donation to the Save the Kangaroo foundation.

Stacks told MLive.com it's part of a travelling zoo, and claimed to have the proper licenses. Stacks told TMZ the animal was not harmed in any way by the show on Friday night.

According to Epps, the original plan was to have the kangaroo run across the stage as a joke, but that's not how it played out.

It's worth noting that PETA is often wildly off-base when it comes to the things it takes issue with, but in a statement, the organization says that "traumatic situations" like this can be fatal to kangaroos, as they are "not hardy animals".
