Armed fugitive sets vehicle on fire, sends Trump 161-page manifesto

Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden said Friday that Joseph Jakubowski sent a 161-page "manifesto" to the White House for President Donald Trump.

Jakubowski is believed to have stolen 16 high-end guns from a Janesville store earlier this week. Jakubowski is the registered owner of the vehicle that was burned.

Area schools including Watertown, Lake Mills, Jefferson, Fort Atkinson, Johnson Creek and others have been placed on soft lockdown today after an individual stole firearms from a gun shop in Janesville and made threats against schools.

Authorities said that information was received into the Rock County Sheriff's Office that he was agitated by recent political issues.

Wisconsin authorities are working with the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Secret Service to find Jakubowski, who has been missing since Tuesday - the same day he allegedly mailed the manifesto, burglarized the gun shop and set his auto on fire, the law enforcement source said.

Several schools also were on soft lockdown Thursday. As a precaution to student safety, area schools had been notified of the search.

Out of an abundance of caution and until he is found, Moore has at least 150 law enforcement personnel from the local, state and federal level searching approximately a dozen locations in the hopes if finding the wanted man.

"I can tell you that we don't know where Mr. Jakubowski is", Sheriff Moore said.

Law enforcement authorities that include the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Secret Service have checked out 65 leads and 12 different locations during their search for Jakubowski, Spoden said. The associate also said Jakubowski had made non-specific threats toward schools and public officials, according to the sheriff. That means classes are held but doors to classrooms and the schools are locked. He is considered armed and risky and members of the public should exercise extreme caution if they see him.

"Additionally the Watertown Police Department is maintaining a visibility and presence at our schools".
