Jude Law Joins Cast Of Fantastic Beasts Sequel As Dumbledore

Given that the Harry Potter films have made a combined total of £732,203,509,102,100 at the box-office, it's fair to say that there's plenty of interest in who's cast in the sequel to the latest magical adventure from J.K Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Johnny Depp is also set to be in the film as Gellert Grindlewald, one of the most powerful dark wizards of all time who wound up being defeated by Albus.

The sequel will be directed by David Yates.

In making the announcement, Emmerich stated, "As fans ourselves, we are thrilled to have Jude Law joining the "Fantastic Beasts" cast, playing a character so universally adored".

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" grossed over $812 million worldwide. It's believed that the follow-up films will see Dumbledore take an increasingly important role as the series transitions from Newt to setting up the titanic duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald that we've only heard about in the Harry Potter stories.

Law most recently appeared in Paolo Sorrentino's small screen drama "The Young Pope", which aired on HBO. "I am really looking forward to working with him, but I already know that he Will capture all facets of Albus Dumbledore's personality in this period of his life revealed by JK Rowling". After his death in 2002, Michael Gambon inherited the role.

Countdown to the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 with the The Movie Hype App.

The sequel will begin filming this summer, and is set for release on 16 November 2018.

Set far before Harry Potter was born into the wizarding world, Fantastic Beasts stars Oscar victor Eddie Redmayne; the first installment, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them raked in over $813 million at the box office.
