A suspect is in the custody of the Massachusetts State Police in connection to the death of Princeton jogger Vanessa Marcotte, WCVB reported.

A source confirmed that an arrest has been made in the killing of Google employee Vanessa Marcotte.

She was visiting her mother's home in Princeton last summer when she was attacked and killed while out for a jog.

The 27-year-old Google accounts manager was slain within a week of Queens resident Karina Vetrano's murder.

The DNA was traced back to Colon on Friday, said Worcester County District Attorney, Joseph Earl Jr.

Colon-Ortiz was picked up from his residence in Worcester late on Friday night, placed under arrest this morning, and is being held at the Millbury State Police barracks pending arraignment at Leominster District Court on Tuesday. Early said that he anticipates bringing a murder charge against Colon-Ortiz as the investigation progresses.

She went out for a jog at about 1 p.m. on August 7 along Brooks Station Road and when she didn't return, her family contacted police.

The 27-year-old Marcotte was found dead near her mother's home in Princeton on August 7, 2016.

The man would have sustained scratches on his face, neck, arms, hands, and upper body sustained during a struggle with the victim, said Early.

Police released a DNA profile of her suspected killer in late February in hopes it would lead them to a person of interest.

Authorities received thousands of tips on a dedicated line regarding Marcotte's case.
