Microsoft Unveils 'Microsoft To-Do', the Successor to Wunderlist

Elbert EdwardsApr 22, 2017

Exciting features from Wunderlist such as sharing lists, availability on all platforms (including Windows 10 Mobile), and integrations with external services, as promised by Microsoft, will be made available on To-do in the long run.

To-Do is still a work in progress, but right now you can create to-do lists, set up reminders, and track projects.

Microsoft today announced the preview launch of a new "intelligent task management app" that's created to make it easier to plan and manage a day's activities.

Although the app is very simple overall, one key feature that makes it stand out is Intelligent Suggestions. The new app has been incorporated with a new feature called "Intelligent Suggestions" which allows users to customize by having the app suggest new items needed to be done.

Microsoft To-Do is now available to download in Preview across all major platforms including iPhone, Android, Windows and the web today.

According to Microsoft this app was built by the same folks who work on Wunderlist and while the new app will eventually pick up numerous popular features from Wunderlist, at some point down the road Wunderlist will be retired. Office 365 IT admins can turn on the preview from the Office 365 admin center.

As is the case with a growing number of Microsoft applications and services, there's no standalone version of To-Do.

The Verge reports that the To-Do list application also incorporates lists with emojis in order for users to easily identify them.

The new app bears a striking resemblance to Wunderlist and even offers the ability import existing Wunderlist lists. The new app is being built by the team behind Wunderlist.

If you already use the Microsoft Authenticator for your personal account, select the dropdown button on your account tile, and choose Enable phone sign-in. Now, the Enterprise Mobility and Security team over at Microsoft have announced that the phone sign-in is globally available for iOS and Android. "Just approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator after entering your username, and provide your passcode or TouchID", the company said regarding the phone sign-in feature in its changelog on App Store.
