Prominent firm to defend 'Bachelor' star in Iowa crash case

Former star of "The Bachelor", 35-year-old Chris Soules, was arrested earlier this week after fleeing the scene of a traffic accident that took the life of an Iowa grandfather. He has been charged with leaving the scene of a deadly crash, a Class D felony in Iowa.

It occurred at about 8:30 p.m., when Soules was driven to his family's farm. "OK, and the guy was thrown into the ditch?"

While initial reports may have led people to believe Soules fled immediately after hitting the John Deere tractor, TMZ obtained 911 audio of Soules calling the police and attempting to help Mosher before taking off. Soules can then be heard counting to himself and telling the dispatcher blood is coming from Mosher's mouth. At the time of the call, Soules revealed Mosher was not conscious and didn't appear to be breathing.

Later in the call, the operator asks Soules to perform CPR and he replies he doesn't know how. "Brown recognized the heightened level of interest because of Soules' celebrity status, but asked that members of the public do not prejudge this case based on media coverage". The alcohol found in the truck could also play a major role in the investigation and might be the reason why Soules left before police arrived. He was arrested hours later at his home.

Soules is due in court for his first hearing on Tuesday, May 2, the insider told Us.

The Associated Press contributed to this article. Police discovered alcohol in the truck, which Soules left at the scene of the accident.

He was convicted of drunken driving in 2005.

After the accident, Soules' team issued a statement saying that he was "devastated to learn" that the victim had died.

"His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher's family", said Rosenfield, who declined to comment further.

According to Mosher's obituary published Wednesday by the funeral home handling his arrangements, he had a wife, two sons and three grandchildren. He was a US army vet and served for six years.

According to a statement from the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, they received a 911 report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the 1000 block of Slater Avenue, north of Aurora.

"Kenny loved playing golf, farming, and spending his winters in Florida biking and visiting his mother", the obituary read.

Meanwhile, his legal team claims that they are concerned Soules will not get a fair trial.

After failing to win Soules' heart on The Bachelor's 19th season, Nilsson competed against Kaitlyn Bristowe to become The Bachelorette's eleventh-season star. A fan favorite, ABC had him back as "The Bachelor" the following year.

City clerk Mary Jo Brown echoed Handel's sentiment: "It's a tragic accident and I feel bad for the family that lost someone last night, and also for Chris and his family".
