Ubisoft Posts Cryptic Far Cry 3 Tease

On its Facebook page, the developer posted a picture of the game's Rook Island setting, along with a sentence in French that translates to "an island we never truly left". It's evident that Ubisoft is teasing a new Far Cry announcement but it's not known for sure right now precisely what it is that Ubisoft is teasing.

This was followed another post by the publisher asking fans to follow it on Instagram - albeit done in a fashion that hints at a game in the Far Cry series. Is it an expansion for Far Cry 3 or a new game altogether?

Ubisoft has recently released a new Far Cry 3 teaser image and since the image itself does not reveal much, the fans took it upon themselves to decipher what the image is trying to say.

We haven't seen a numbered Far Cry since Far Cry 4 in late 2014, with Far Cry Primal launching early previous year.

Far Cry 3 certainly presented arguably the best story of the Far Cry series - and definitely the most memorable villain - so returning to that universe would be very cool. It's a shame, because social media was aflame with excitement for the project, and it puts the future of the Far Cry series back into question. The company is also expected to announce its much rumored Mario and Raving Rabbids crossover for the Nintendo Switch during the annual industry bash, so it sounds as though Ubisoft is about to show up in a big way come the event in June.
