"The legacy of your loved one is not forgotten" was the message local law enforcement and community members wanted to give surviving families of officers who died in the line of duty.

Lt. Brian Nebeker with the Clark County School District, and Kristen Bishop an officer with the North Las Vegas Police, inspect each other before the 2017 Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Ceremony, Thursday, May 4, 2017, in Carson City.

The somber event marked the 15th year of the tribute to the fallen officers.

It was the 44th annual Detroit Police Interfaith Memorial service march.

The run made its way to Carson City Wednesday, May 3rd.

Alongside Perez and Sandoval, Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell also spoke in support of law enforcement.

Agency honor guard members will join area musicians in rendering a rifle salute and "Taps" to the memories of those we will honor. "I think it shows us the seriousness of what we are getting into with this job".

Troop P held their ceremony at its barracks on Wyoming Avenue, one of many held at state police barracks throughout the Commonwealth.

The most recent name added to the wall is Officer Paul Carlisle, who died on December 1, 2015. The decals are the names of all 232 officers that died in the line of duty since the inception of the Detroit Police Department.

"This is always a time for heartfelt remembrance - but this week brought yet another stark reminder of the grieving that we experienced each and every time that we lose an officer".

"Today's ceremony is special because it allows us an opportunity to reflect upon our peace officers - both past and present - and to be mindful of the sacrifices that they make", Reynolds says.
