Waze Update Now Lets You Record Your Own Voice

Katie RamirezMay 10, 2017

Waze, the popular crowdsourced navigation app owned by Google, has introduced a feature that allows users to utilize their own voices for driving prompts. Wish you could hear your significant other whisper sweet "turn left here" into your ear while on the road? Recording the prompts is as easy as locating the Waze Voice Recorder in the settings, under the "Sound & Voice" section. Called the Waze voice recorder, this in-app feature will let you use your own voice for various navigation commands in a language that you understand. You can use a friend, family member, or just about anyone. You can either record them yourself, or you can have a loved one say the phrases. For most people, however, we suspect it'll be one of those features that's fun to mess around with once before promptly setting it back to how you had it before. This way, if any of the celebrity voices doesn't do the trick for you, and you keep on missing turns, you can see if you'll respond better to the sound of your own voice.

This follows the announcement that the service added Mr. T's voice for users in the United States and Canada.

Having the ability to use your own voice in the app is a really neat feature and I imagine a bunch of folks are going to be using it. Think about how cool it would be to freak out one of your friends the next time they're in your vehicle?
