Bhagwant Mann's appointment as new Punjab chief has triggered a series of resignations in Punjab unit of Aam Aadmi Party. AAP Punjab vice-president Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that Sangrur MP Mann had announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh from his discretionary funds. While Mann was mum over a volley of charges levelled against him, his deputy Dhaliwal was vocal in saying that the resignations and opposition to the Sangrur MP's appointment was not from volunteers but from a few leaders. The AAP had on Monday had restructured its Punjab unit by appointing Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann as State convener and Sunam MLA Aman Arora as co-convener. Sandhu has been expelled for his activities against the party, Mann said on Wednesday in a statement.

Notably, the rejig was followed by resignation of senior leader and MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira as party spokesperson and chief whip in the Punjab Assembly.

"Kejriwal does not have even five minutes to spare for people of Punjab where he spent a lot of time before elections", he claimed. This is not the same party I had joined.

The SAD MP, in a statement here, said, "Ghuggi is right in pointing out that a drunkard should not have been appointed to the newly created post of state president which replaces the nomenclature state convener as "a leopard can not change its spots".

Speaking to reporters, Ghuggi said "I am upset with the way I was removed. They call this election process, this is not election process it is a farce", Ghuggi said.
