Stone vows to cooperate with Senate committee

Flynn was forced to resign after misleading other Trump administration officials about his conversations with the Russian ambassador during the transition.

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence issued a subpoena for former national security adviser Michael Flynn's documents related to Russia's meddling in the 2016 US election. The committee wants any evidence the Treasury has compiled as well as information about whether any people close to Russian President Vladimir Putin had invested in Trump properties, the report said.

Former Trump adviser Roger Stone says he will "fully comply" with the Senate intelligence committee's request for information and documents relating to its Russian Federation investigation.

Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Ranking Member Mark Warner (D-Va.) said in the Wednesday statement that the subpoena was issued in response to Flynn refusing to comply with an April 28 request for the records.

"He didn't turn those documents over, so we have subpoenaed those documents", Lankford said.

A former USA military intelligence chief, retired lieutenant general Flynn was generously paid to attend a gala of Russia's RT television in December 2015, where he sat with President Vladimir Putin, raising suspicions about his ties with Moscow.

His ouster on February 13 after less than four weeks as national security advisor came after he was shown to have lied to Vice President Mike Pence about his sensitive talks with Kislyak.

And Trump continued to stand by the decision not to fire Flynn immediately after then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates warned the White House that Flynn was vulnerable to Russian blackmail.

Flynn was a "very good person" and it would be unfair to hear from somebody who we don't know and immediately run out and fire a general.
